This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2013 with Laura Nownes »
Instructions
Ensure that you do a test of the scant 1/4" seams on your strips and seams. Though careful, I still ended up with an 8" block my first time! I moved my needle over two notches to the right, and this proved to be the perfect distance for an 8 1/2" block. Not an easy block for a beginner.Difficulty:
Category: Quilting
Type of item: Home Decor
For: Home
Style: Traditional
What was your inspiration?
Laura's use of dark to light.
What are you most proud of?
I found choosing the fabrics difficult but enjoyed trying a number of variations.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you do not have exact scant 1/4" seams, this block does not go together. In my first square, though careful, my block was still an 8". I was able to move my needle over two notches, which worked out perfectly. I'll have to remake the third square, but at least now I know what is needed to be a scant 1/4".
