BOM - October Block 2

Circle of Geese

Circle of Geese

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

I used Carol Doaks Foundation paper and didn't need to pre-sew the perforation holes. This block was a bit fiddly so just go slower and check your fabric is facing the right way up (DUH moment or two!)

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

For: Home

What are you most proud of?

I did it!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Fiddly but fun... give it a go!

HI. Did this block square up to 12.5"? Mine is exactly 12", :( All of my other blocks were fine, 12.5+...

Hi there, yes my block came out at 12.5". Did you extend your fabric pieces out to the dashed line? Thats the 1/4" seam allowance. Did you check your 1 inch mark was printed to scale? Here's some alternative instructions too... http://sometimescrafter.blogspot.co.nz/2009/08/tutorial-paper-piecing-block.html

I haven't had time to try this one yet, certainly a challenge. I really like your colour scheme and the cream background. MUST have a go ASAP.

Thanks, sure is hard to believe I've done this block now... geez just to make flying geese was a big step for me lol, but to have them flying in a circle... and they stayed in formation too LOL!!! Can't wait to see your pretty blue ones ;-)

What's DUH? ... Something like "don't undo hems?" Apart from that, very neat and precise. I like it very much

Thanks and yes something very much like that LOL... why do anything just once when you can do it at least twice, altho I did make it thru to the final quarter before putting myself thru extra practice... should have gone to bed and tackled it again in the morning but I was soooooo close!!!!

Your block is beautiful & perfect. Have you decided on sashing or are you just going to wait & see what Amy comes up with? Thanks so much for sharing. :-)

You go, girl! Looking good! I also had a couple of senior moments when I didn't cover the area - got too familiar with the seam ripper

I look forward to doing this block in fear and trembling! However, you've made a very good job of it - hope I can do half as well!

A long wait, I'm afraid - only started January on Thurs, but have just finished March today (Sunday, 7 Oct)! Feeling single-minded at present, but it doesn't take much to sidetrack me and I want to start some Thread Art as soon as my husband's finished making me a lightbox!

I like what you've done. I had so much trouble with the other one that I hesitate to try this one.

Oh no, just jump right in! Just a wee bit fiddlier as there are more pieces involved. Not impossible tho, I made it after all and it hasn't put me off foundation piecing at all... can't wait to get stuck in to Peggy Martins class now! I do think that having watched some of her lessons tho, gave me a little more confidence to dive in.
