What was your inspiration?

Leah Day's tutorial. Having spent a month catching up and doing all ten months' blocks in just over four weeks, I was glad to find a tutorial in how to quilt them!

What are you most proud of?

Getting the spiral to run fairly smoothly. I thought I'd probably end up with corners and angles, but it wasn't too difficult to keep the curve moving, especially as I'd bought a slider (though not the Supreme Slider which was recommended). The only drawback with the slider is the difficulty I have in burrowing underneath it to change the bobbin - and you use bobbins and bobbins of thread in these projects! I didn't start the spiral right in the middle as I didn't want to quilt over the fairy, but I think it turned out okay just the same. Incidentally, the colours in this photo are completely wrong and I've no idea why - the borders are purple, not blue, and my picture of Block 1 is much more lifelike.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take a deep breath and cruise smoothly around your block!

Thank you - it's certainly not my favourite one - I feel it needs something more, but have no idea what!

Pat I think it is just perfect the way it is, I totally love what you have done with this block.

You're braver than I am! I decided not to attempt such a big spiral on this block & did something else.

That is a cool way of quilting that block. I just did stitch in the ditch on that one.

I'm sure it's not too late to go back and do a spiral on it as well, if you wanted to try that.

You did a great job Pat! I haven't tried spirals before, but Leah Day's tips is what got me started on stippling earlier this year, she is a great teacher!

I must say I agree with you about Leah! Just like Amy, she's an inspiration (and aren't they both so YOUNG!)!

Very nice curls, Pat! I don't think I can do it without drawing it first.

well done, looks good to me, im still a bit of a novice when it comes to quilting. but its about listening and watching and some more watching until you get it. one might see my one where i did the pebbles on one, and it come up looking brilliant. but of course dont stand too close. hehe

Yes - I know what you mean by not standing too close! It's a bit like when I go into the bathroom with my glasses on - it's only then that I see it needs cleaning!

oh I wear my glasses all the time, perhaps thats why i do more housework, if I take them off while i can still see things, i cannot see how clean they arent....
