Black Shirt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sassy Librarian Blouse »

Instructions

I made the collared shirt and added the tucks. I have a second version made with a more expensive fabric. Just need to sew on the buttons. I loved this class.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Whimsical, Cute

Materials

Black Batiste cotton

What was your inspiration?

I am new to sewing and i wanted to make an inexpensive version in case i made a mistake. I love it and wear it all the time. The second version pics are coming soon. I found a really great fabric that i loved. I just need to sew on the buttons.

What are you most proud of?

Proud that i finished as a beginner! and the shirt fits perfectly!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time and have fun! I watched the video segment in entirety and then reviewed as i completed the actions. Just to make sure the entire action made sense. I was most nervous about the button holes. Practice these on a separate piece of fabric/interfacing layers that you will sew at the end...

Nice. This is a great "basic black" blouse that I'm sure you will get a lot of wear out of.

Wow always nice to have a very wearable muslin. Congratulations on your first project.

You made very nice choices for your options -collar, tucks, rounded buttons. When I looked at the smaller photo, it looked as if you had used a larger button at the top. Well. Turns out that is not what you did, but it planted the idea in my head. Both your blouses are delightful.

I added some polka dot bias tape (black and white) just to add some interest. Its hidden but its there and it makes me happy. You might be seeing that near the top of the collar. Thanks!

Yay! This is classic and elegant, and a great way to make a "wearable" muslin. Great job!
