What was your inspiration?

My nephew was getting married, and this was a wedding gift. The colors were chosen to go with the young couple's decor. I chose this pattern because it softened the color choice, I thought.

What are you most proud of?

They loved it, and I've seen photos of their living room with the afghan artfully draped over the sofa.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I made this afghan when I was relatively inexperienced, and I had trouble with the edges. It wasn't clear to me where to put the crochet hook after turning on rows of single and double crochet (it's different, as I learned). So the first time I made this pattern, using other colors for myself, I had an uneven edge that I discovered after I was well into the project. Had it been a gift, I would have ripped it out and redone it. But since it was for me, I decided to keep it as is. When I lay the afghan over me, there is a u-shape between my shoulders and head, so it actually drapes nicely over my shoulders without coming all the way up to my chin! Anyway, the advice is...if the pattern isn't clear, make sure you know the proper technique for turning at the end of the row for each kind of stitch (sc, dc, tc, etc.).
