Cotton fabric scraps, poly/cotton quilt batting, thread
What was your inspiration?
I love swirls! I think swirls on fabric are whimsical and remind me of the wind blowing through a meadow, snow storm, fall leaves or spring flowers.
I signed up for the course simply to learn to make the swirls. However, there are many other designs taught in the class that I will definitely use in my free motion quilting.
What are you most proud of?
I am proud that the finished doll quilt is my first project quilted with swirls and it turned out pretty good. Not perfect, but good.
I made this first attempt at swirls on my birthday. So, its my birthday swirls memory quilt!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Like the instructor states: PRACTICE!
Practice sketching
Practice on a sample quilt sandwich
Practice on a small quilt, such as the doll quilt, wall hanging or mug rug.
After a while it becomes like second nature. Just don't give up!
