I used left over items for this project. You can update this pattern to be more modern by using larger ribbon and add a embellishment of some sort. I used a cameo pendant to match a belt I had made before it.Difficulty:

Materials
Red Heart Silver crochet thread (discontinued), Ivory ribbon (any larger size mine was from another project), Embellishment, silver glue on brooch pins (found in jewelry section or a craft store).
What was your inspiration?
I constantly find inspiration from old things around me. I love taking broken vintage things from goodwill, thrift and consignment stores and making them usable again. I look for items mostly from the 40s-50s.
I can make pretty much anything because I crochet, make jewelry, knit and sew. I love being unique and showing that in my stuff.
What are you most proud of?
I am constantly making things all the time but the one item I get the most comments on is a crocodile triangle shawl I have been working on for months. Every time I am out in public someone comments on it because I am using a very fine glitter thread.
My other favorite would be my black and white cameo. People adore that necklace and it has brought me some business by just handing out my card.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you have never worked with crochet thread before take it slow. You have to get used to working with something smaller then normal yarn. Once you finish one of these you will find it easy to make your own pattern from this.
