What are you most proud of?

My use of colors. Rather than follow the pattern photograph and use solids throughout, I chose a variegated body for the sock that tied the colors all in together. Could it be any wilder???

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be sure to have stitch markers. Keep trying them on to check the fit!

I did afghans for our twin grandsons' for their birthday in August... I think they'll be getting those for Christmas! Awesome, cute and whimsical.

My foot is size 6 and I think it's better to fit a little tighter than looser; if it's not a surprise I would have her try them on several times while you make them~

These are Beautiful! I want to make socks, but had a burned out experience in a Knitting class I took where the teacher had thrown together several patterns & made it her own to show us. So when I did get to the gusset area, me, several other students & my daughter were all LOST with her instructions. the class was for a couple of saturdays and before we knew it, it was all over. I have tried on my own, but it just aint working for me. Any suggestions for help?

Well I crochet and don't knit.... I my opinion, all you need to do is be able to read a pattern. I made these in a crochet-along and was able to get advice from the group; check out the link to the group under "instructions" (above). You can also try YouTube for different stitches, but whatever you do: Don't give up!!!! I'm sorry to hear you had that bad experience with that teacher. I've been teaching for over a year now and have learned a lot....

I have to wonder if that's supposed to be "lightning" lemon. Though I suppose lightening makes as much sense.

I saw this pattern in the Interweave Fall 08 magazine and thought they looked interesting, but I love the variegated yarn you used in place of the solid. Very cool!
