What was your inspiration?
I wanted to make a pair of slippers that would stand up. I squared the toes and added some tissue and stood them up for a picture. Then they unceremoniously fell down right after.
What are you most proud of?
I found 2 very expensive sea turtle buttons made from glass from the 1930 on ebay. I proudly sewed them on the slippers, sent them to my daughter who collects all things sea turtle and she never even noticed them. I was crushed. SO, it is now my habit to not spend much on embellishments for my slippers. A little flower, cheap buttons, a few crystal (maybe) and nothing... for a traditional look since sometimes less is MORE.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I have said all in the previous segments. I can't add more. It would be over kill.
Just buy the pattern and have a great time making these most marvelous slippers. Make sure you have several for yourself.
Spoil yourself a little and make a few pairs, white, black, pink and red. Oh red.......that's my next color right after the black and white and blue ones.
