In case it hasn't been mentioned...don't use buttons, babies can pull them off (oh, yes they can!) and swallow them or choke on them-same thing goes for that loop, that could get wrapped around a little finger and cut off the circulation. Best to use velcro or a fabric tie

thank you! my favorite threads are mettler metrosene poly or aurifil cotton, depends which material you rather use. some joanns have mettler, but you can find it at red rock threads.com I think they also have aurifil

Regarding your comment of "I should give a tutorial" but you're worried regarding copyrights. Make contact with the pattern company (in writing) request information guidelines about giving a class on their pattern. In the class you can verbally give your suggestions for sewing the pattern & students take notes. In this way you are not rewriting the pattern & offering it for free or for payment. It should not fall under copyright infringement if the pattern is utilized via a class without physically altering the companies pattern. Hope this helps. Again do write the pattern company regarding giving a class for any specific restrictions.

I am excited to see that Ithinksew has turned her e-patterns into a simplicity pattern! Horray for her! I have made both of these shoes using her separate patterns and they are super easy actually! She also does sell adult sizes for those who have made a comment that they would love these shoes in their own sizes.

I think I'll adapt the button closure with a little tie closure or elastic in a fabric tube sewn to each side for a stretchy closure. Don't like buttons on things for infants.

Years ago I made a christening dress for a friends baby from her wedding dress. I bought a christening dress pattern but made some adjustments to make a matching jacket all from the wedding dress. The priest even made a comment aboutnitnduring the ceremony. Well worth the effort. Pratt

I made a pair of the kimono ones out two different 30's prints and they came out darling. I did it and I'm a novice sewer.(Is that how you spell it?)(cause isn't a sewer for sewage?) Anyway, I'm relatively new to sewing. So if I can do it, anyone can do it. I feel very accomplished! My baby granddaughter is going to be well shod.

I like these, they are so cute....however, I do think a pattern you BUY should be accurate. Re-designing after you make one,,,thats a natural thing to do too... I would also make the one without buttons especially for small children getting them in their mouths. I'm off to the cutting table...more to follow!!

I plan to double line the top part so that I can turn under the inside edges by hand and sew shut. Also a ribbon bow closure would be darling....Out of lace for Christening would be lovely...Linda

i have made baby shoes before for my granddaughter. and yes they are adorable. what you need is the determination and alot of patience, the end result is so rewarding and of course mommy loved them to, theses would also be fun to make.

I got them all online I think. check fabric.com or hawthornethreads.com pink chalk fabrics has nice fabrics as well!

they are from ithinksew.com number 23 is the one with the button and number 40 is the wrap/kimono one

I actually bought this pattern long time ago, but I'm a bit intimidated by the instructions so I haven't made any. I think the instruction should be a little more specific.

I know what you mean! the patterns aren't very clear so I ended up with a couple of duds. once I tried it out and stopped reading the pattern it all started to come out together. I'm tempted to do a tutorial to help others, but I'm not sure how to do it without breaking copyright

they're a little tricky/fiddly. but once you make one you figure out the pattern and they get easier to make ; )
