Cowan Quilt

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
Eternity Knot Paper Pieced Quilt Block »

Instructions

Follow good paper piecing methods and all will work out. I made the block to big so I was not able to put the blocks on point as I originally planned but I am still learning!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabrics and batting.

What was your inspiration?

They wanted Texas Longhorn colour and I thought the blue was a good contrast.

What are you most proud of?

I am a beginning quilter and I try to push myself. This was challenging but not in a bad way. I learned a bunch on this project and will do it again soon.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Really think about how you want the finished project to look before you even begin. I made the blocks too big to put on point, I would have also reversed the colours in three of the blocks to get a mirror image which would have given the project a more professional look, more balanced.

This is a fantastic use of the Eternity Knot block! I never would have thought to set it like this, but it gives a really interesting and modern effect. I even like the fact that you didn't mirror image the block to make it totally symmetric :-)) It adds a bit of unexpected playfulness. Great job!
