Instructions

Think about it first! Plan your use of fabrics and before you cut put it up on a design wall (I use a flannel backed table cloth!) This is tricky for a beginner like me but i learned a lot!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Romantic, Whimsical, Traditional, Funky

Materials

Northcott Asian Garden fat qtrs with beautiful Kaufman fabric on back

What was your inspiration?

Wanted to try sewing up something from fat qtrs as I usually use jelly or layer cakes. Loved the fabric and it seemed easy when i looked at the pattern! Don't be fooled. You need to think about the placement of your fabric to get the best result.

What are you most proud of?

The sashing is perfect and I quilted the entire top myself. I used different colored thread in each section to match the fabric. I used a variety of designs in each block.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pick some beautiful Asian fabrics and take your time. Plan ahead and number each piece of fabric as you cut out each section. that way you will keep track of what you are doing. Use a design wall for each section.
