What materials did you use? Cotton fat quarters from Joann's fabrics

What are you most proud of? I ended up having to redo this block almost completely. It was really late at night when I finished it the first time, and went to trim it. So, what did I do? Instead of trimming it to 18 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches, I trimmed it down to leave 1/4" seam allowance from the edge of the fans on the four sides. It was square, but only about 16 1/2 inches, not 18 1/2 inches! When I realized what I'd done, I was so angry at myself because I knew I'd have to either redo it almost completely, or find another solution to redo the background fabric. I ended up redoing almost the entire thing. I think that I am most proud that I didn't let it wait, and redid the block within two days of finishing it the first time, and trimmed it correctly the second time!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time - this one takes longer than some of the other blocks to finish. Be careful when trimming. If you're tired, and maybe a little out of it, don't try to trim it then - wait until you've had some rest before trimming it down to size. Otherwise, you might do what I did, and trim it completely wrong! :)

Wonderful block Holly! Well worth the extra effort. I can truly relate to what you faced. I've had to frog stitch (rip it ripit) more frequently than I'd like. I admire you for forging on right away and I hope you won't be too hard on yourself in the future. Now its just what to do with the other block. :D

Hi Saberz Mom! The fabric I'm using are just fat quarter bundles from JoAnn Fabrics. They are usually tied together with a ribbon of some sort.
