This came from a Magazine , "Quilt Almanac" 2005 - on page 84 - Hearts On Fire - By Debbie Kratovil
I modified the pattern by adding a border to the outside...and using green print fabrics instead of the batiks. (for back issues of the magazine go to www.quiltmag.com)

What was your inspiration?

Saw this in a magazine and really wanted to try it out - but not in the colors they had it in. I wound up giving this to a couple for their anniversary.

What are you most proud of?

I think it came out really well and even though I used different colors, it looks great.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Appliques can be difficult - but if you use a fusible webbing (which I didn't on this one) it helps keep the applique in place when you start sewing around it.
