What materials did you use? Sock yarn (Wollmeise 100%) in two colors. I hand-dyed the blue using a Wollmeise "Natur" as the base. The purple is "Fliederbusch" also in 100%. 219.3 yards of purple and it has a 6" brim. 103.5 yards of blue

What are you most proud of? I think I did an okay job of translating my memories of the place into a vaguely Moorish design. I'm also proud that my test-knitters who were new to fair-isle found it to be an easy pattern for them.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you've never done fair-isle, do a couple of swatches in the round for practice. This is a great first-time fair-isle project because if the gauge is too loose, you can still wear it as a slouchy hat. If the gauge is too tight, you can use the folded brim to make up for lost length.
