What materials did you use? Cotton Batik, together with a selection of rayon machine embroidery yarns, a variety of braids and mainly cotton hand embroidery thread.

What are you most proud of? That I am using my machine in a way that it was meant to be used.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Find a piece of background fabric that you like, but one that doesn't have too many colour variants in it, so that your threads and braids will stand out. I found that I loved using variagated rayon machine thread and a variagated Japanese cotton for some hand embroidery. French knots and colonial knots turned out to be a favourite, together with fly stitch. My piece measures 15 inches square.

Love the crossing lines. It adds an interesting tension to the piece.
