Do you sell this cake? No, just for fun

Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This 4th of July cake has layers of vanilla and strawberry cake and swiss meringue buttercream frosting. I covered it with white fondant and used Erin's chevron template to make a pencil transfer onto the fondant. I painted the chevrons with red gel coloring and outlined in black after it dried. The motion lines were inspired by Erin's finished cake and several whimsical Cat in the Hat cakes I've seen on the internet. For the top, I created a pencil transfer from a small star shaped cookie cutter and painted in blue gel. I was so inspired by how Erin took a very intimidating process like hand painting and broke it down into simple, achievable steps. Had I not taken this class, I would have defaulted to using a fondant onlay to make the chevrons on the side of the cake. I wouldn't have been able to capture the fun, whimsical look I was going for that I believe could best be achieved by hand painting. I am so excited to have this new technique in my tool belt! Big thanks to Erin and to Craftsy for connecting knowledgeable teachers with students who are eager to learn!
