Description

Waterspouts are funnel-shaped clouds rotating over water, sometimes seen in the Great Lakes.The gorgeous Waterspout Shawl is knit from the neck to edge, with lace and twisted stitches. It’s a perfect project for your first lace shawl. Instructions are written for both worsted-weight and fingering-weight yarn. Materials Needed

Yarn: Fingering weight or worsted weight may be used. Fingering weight: 1 skein Lorna's Laces Solemate (55% merino, 30% rayon, 15% nylon, 100 g = 425 yds/389 m) in Cermak. Worsted weight: 3 skeins Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted (100% merino wool, 4 oz = 225 yds/208 m) in Pond Blue
Needles: For fingering weight yarn, US size 6 (4.00 mm). For worsted weight yarn, US size 10 1/2 (6.5 mm) or size needed for gauge.
Other: stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge for fingering weight yarn: 17 stitches and 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked
Gauge for worsted weight yarn: 11 stitches and 22 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch, blocked
