Meet your instructor, Cathie Rigby, and get an overview of the principal components of your Cricut Expression® die cutter: the blade, mat, cartridges and basic keys. You'll also learn a handy numbering strategy to keep track of design elements and Cathie's five rules for using your Cricut successfully.
Dive further into your Cricut's capabilities with a look at the function and mode buttons. Cathie will show you how to get the most out of your materials through efficient use of the cutting blade's positioning. You'll also learn how to use Cricut markers and create a cute dimensional flower in the process!
Take the layered flower you learned to make in Lesson 2 and make it unique by embossing your paper (Cathie uses a Cuttlebug), scoring, stacking, curling and coloring. Cathie shows you how!
Follow along with Cathie as you learn how to set your machine to cut vinyl and use design cartridges to create letters and shapes that you can apply to any smooth surface.
Vinyl also can be used to create stencils for etching glass such as mirrors, baking dishes, and even champagne flutes! Cathie shows how to etch the bottom of a glass dish using a vinyl stencil and etching cream.
Cutting multiple pieces of paper or fabric on the same mat is easy when you follow Cathie's instructions. Create a dimensional flower in paper, then try it again with fabric to learn how the materials differ in the process. Dry-fit your work, then use a glue pen to put the layers together.
Cathie wraps up with two cute greeting cards you can create using your Cricut cutter and discusses ways you can vary the designs to make them uniquely yours!
"I have owned this machine for many years and did not know how to use many features that are given in this class. This was an excellent purchase! The instructor is clear and precise - job well done. Thanks!"
