What materials did you use? Class kit, thread, graphing paper, pencil and ruler, removable fabric markers. I purchased extra white on white polka dot yardage for the backgrounds and sashing.

What are you most proud of? I could not have completed this quilt without the skills I learned this year. I drafted the alternate block (instead of flower basket) and used partial seaming to inset the center braid.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't assume up front whether of not you like the quilt. I had my doubts early on but in the end I'm very happy. Using a computer helps when playing around with layouts. Above all - have fun!

I like the blocks better in your picture than in the class I've enrolled in. Where did you get the patterns for the alternate blocks?

I first saw the Friendship Braid on YouTube. I wanted to use it from the moment I saw it. After watching a few I gave it a try. I drafted the alternate block for the flower basket which was inspired by a quilted carseat cover another Craftsy member made. Without two skills I used two new skills from this class. I needed partial seams to place the braid in the center of the quilt. And I drafted the HSTs on point alternate block to fit. You can view those details under my separate project here: Have fun Michelle!!

Just beautiful!! I love the way you've used the colors and rearranged the layout for your own look. I love doing appliqu, but wasn't really a fan of the basket in this quilt. Your substitute block works perfectly!!

Thank you CeCeC! I felt the same way about the basket. Just didn't seem to fit. So I decided to use the drafting skills she taught and make my own. It was inspired by another Craftsy friend. Where would we be without each other? Thanks again :-)

What an incredibly charming, whimsical quilt. Love the colors and especially the variety of polka dot prints. Just beautiful.
