First Yarn

Project Description

What are you most proud of? It's pretty even and I'm happy it actually holds together! What advice would you give someone starting this project? There's more forgiveness in the process if you spin thicker yarn.

What you will need

  • White springy wool and a 10" maple top worl drop spindle.

Q&A with Rhyslarn

franciscangypsy asked:
Wow; you got it so thin! What's your secret?
Rhyslarn answered:
Hmmm, I'm not sure what I'm doing that would be considered a secret but I can try to outline what I do when I spin. Maybe that will help you pick out what the 'secret' is?
Creativelycraft asked:
gosh it is beautiful and fine!!! Even too - well done I am impressed
Rhyslarn answered:
Thank you :)
Lauri22 asked:
Wow! That looks amazing! What are your plans for it?
Rhyslarn answered:
I had planned on sending it to my biological mother as this is my first hand spun yarn on a spindle along with my first wheel spun yarn. I felt that she had missed out on on quite a few of my "firsts" after we kids went into the foster care system that I wanted to give her one or two of them back. I remember her being a gifted crochet/knitting artist and am looking forward to seeing what she will make from them both.

Rhyslarn answered:
Thanks :)
IntentionHill asked:
That's so consistent, and beautiful!
Rhyslarn answered:
Thank you :) It was certainly a challenge to keep it even, especially for my first try at spinning.
