Project

Yellow Eyelet Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The detail and the fit. When Jessica has on the proper undergarments (which she doesn't in the photos), the fit of the bodice is perfect. I'm finding that I love the handwork, and the control you have when sewing by hand. The zipper is pick-stitched, and the lining is fell-stitched and then understitched with pick-stitching. It took some time to hand applique the border, but the result was well worth it. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take Susan Khalje's Craftsy Course, "The Couture Dress." Practice your hand stitching techniques. Get creative and use your imagination.

What you will need

  • Yellow cotton eyelet border print
  • silk organza underlining
  • cotton batiste lining (bodice only).
