Wool tote bag

This was a great class. The bag was surprisingly quick and easy to make. The instructor did a nice job explaining things and was very helpful. I wanted to make a practice bag before making one with Harris tweed fabric, which is spendy. I used vintage wool fabric that I got from Etsy and made the handles myself from leather strapping from Amazon. The lining and zippers were from my stash. I really like the way it turned out, but next time I will make the handles a bit longer and also add a hidden magnetic closure to the top as it does not have closure at all. I also added an extra interior zipper pocket, which should have gone on the other side (my error), but it still looks fine.

Q&A with Vicki Walker

Carine_B asked:
Hello classmate Vicky, you did a great job, I like your Bag outside and inside, Please a question about your self made handles, have you bought leather or vinyl-leader, cut by your self into stripes? And what kind of metall buttons have you used to fix your handels? Greetings Carine_B.
Vicki Walker answered:
Hi Carine, thank you for the compliment on my bag. In regard to the handles, I purchased a precut strip roll of leather on Amazon (see link below if you want to known which one). For the metal buttons, I used rivets that I had in my stash). If you've not used rivets before, don't be intimidated by them. They are much easier to use than you would think. Just be sure to buy a set that has the installation tool included (see link for example what to look for). If you have any other questions, please let me know. Also, I would love to see your bag when it is complete. :-) Vicki Leather strapping: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KEK1CL6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Rivet set: https://smile.amazon.com/WXJ13-Single-Leather-Replacement-Decoration/dp/B0755WT8QZ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1540733436&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=rivet+setter+kit&psc=1
