Wedding Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? It came out exactly as envisioned! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Allow yourself plenty of time to draft and redraft a pattern, making as many muslins as you need until the lines of the dress are just where you want them. We started with a basic strapless dress pattern, fitted it, and then added seams, moved seams, removed seams, created the gathered cleavage and the illusion shoulders, and fused the center front into one long panel, among other things. And plenty of time for finishing up the details and embellishments, because you may have new ideas as you are working. We got inspired and added the gathered flower and ribbon embellishments to the sheer overlay on the skirt the night before the wedding!
