Wearable Muslin Capris V2948 Pattern

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most satisfied that I could work through three muslins making changes to each that kept moving me toward what I really wanted for fit. I also feel much more confident with construction, so that I will not mind investing in better fabric to make some real keepers. I made changes for Sway Back, Flat Butt, Lower Crotch in Back, Extra in front at the top of the inseam. Also changed the shaping of the shaped waist band, Took out some of the Side Seams and Narrowed the Legs from just below thighs down to hem. I sewed each change in the muslin to try on before changing the tissue pattern. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just keep working on it. Somewhere in the second muslin, I wondered if I would ever accomplish what I set out to do, but being able to ask questions and sleep on it and try again really did work out! I did most of my fitting in the evening, as that's when I am largest around, and I knew if it fit then, it would be comfortable anytime. i like fabric that has some body because it disguises to some extent those "features" of me that I do not want to emphasize.

The fit is fantastic! I'm on about the 15th fitting (third muslin) on mine and they still need more adjustment to equal this good a fit.

Don't give up - at least for me fit has gotten better over time as my understanding has grown throuogh books, articles and classes along with trial and error.
