Variation on the Classic tailored shirt

What you will need

  • !00% cotton fashion fabric in a medium weight. I wanted something a little heavier that would be ideal for transitional weather as well as the possibility of wearing it partially open with a tank top underneath. I used silk for some of the finished seams and felled the others.

Pam Howard asked:
Thus is a very elegant shirt, I love your seam treatment for the front facing! What pattern did you use? I also love your fabric choice :-))
kjano571001270 answered:
Thank you Pam. My confidence in shirt making is due to you and your amazing course. The pattern is McCall's 6750. Very easy and I was even able to put in a tower placket with a two piece sleeve (because I like how it looks.... more polished). The darts were great too. There are 4 side darts in the front. I wasn't sure if I was going to want all 4, but I went ahead and tailor tacked them. In the fitting process I decided to have them all and I am happy that I did as the fit is perfect.
LadyAnna asked:
I agree with Pam! Very elegant. What pattern is it? Very nice job!

Thank you for your kind words. With each project we grow more confident and continue to improve. I do not mind the mistakes because I usually learn something in the process. The craftsy platform has raised my skill set due to the many generous instructors that share their expertise and keep so many individuals motivated to try more . Keep sewing and be kind to yourself and your accomplishments.
