Twisted Flower Kimono Pillow

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I love how the color changes in the flower. I searched for parts of the kimono with a color gradation. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Do a couple of practice flowers, and draw a circle on your fabric to guide you in the first round. It's harder than you think to get it to come out in a true circle Also, on my last two I left about 1/2" of fabric when I cut the fabric at finishing. I like that effect, it kind of looks like a stamen. In addition, I made sure to tear my fabric into strips instead of cutting it, because I wanted the raw edged look.

What you will need

  • Vintage silk from a Japanese Kimono

Very cute !!! I like that you used different colored fabrics for your twisted flowers.

Thank you. The twisted flowers are so pretty, and there are so many variations that would be fun to try.

nice. I am thinking of making these with an organza or chiffon
Jenny Vestal answered:
That would be lovely, especially if you let the edges fray a bit!
