teacups cushion

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I free motion machine embroidered a message around the edge of the cushion. It was a gift for my friend's birthday so by doing this I made it personal to her. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I cut the shapes out in card and drew around them. I used fusible webbing to fix them to the background then machine satin stitched over the edges. I drew the handles on paper, then using a lightbox I traced them on to the fabric using a water soluble marking pen then machine satin stiched over it. I printed the message to the correct size from my computer, traced it onto the fabric using a lightbox and free motion machine embroidered over it. I made small back and forward stitches at the begining and end of words then moved to the next word and I trimmed the excess thread off at the end. If I did another one I think I would put 12 cups on it in four rows of three, I think it would look more balanced but I am still pleased with the result.
