What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use scraps of flannel fabric. I buy all the leftover pieces at JoAnn for very cheap. Put them together and voila! Have fun!

What you will need

  • Cotton Flannel
  • Minky fabric. All cut in 8" suqares. 42 squares used X2 (front and back) :)

Q&A with Anna Douglas

Raggety Quilter asked:
doesn't the minky fabric shed? After you wash it does it fray or just keep shedding?
Anna Douglas answered:
The minky fabric does great after washing in cold water and gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low. It will get softer after each washing. For a thicker blanket I have made these with 3 layers using flannel in between. This one has 2 layers and is a lighter blanket, perfect for the southern California weather.

I love your sweet baby girl fleece blanket is their a pattern or how to do I instructions available
Anna Douglas answered:
Hi! This is made with flannel and some mink fabric. No fleece used. It's a rag quilt made out of sandwiched squares sewn together leaving some seam allowance for the fringe. Free tutorials are available online. This is super easy to make! :)
