Summer Stripes dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fact that the result is exactly what I wanted. Usually, I realize during construction that certain features that I wanted to incorporate in a dress aren't do-able or look silly or differently than I anticipated, but this time everything fit together wonderfully. Satisfied with the final result, I entered the dress for the Tessuti Award this year. If you like it, vote for it: http://www.tessutiawards.com.au/entry/456 What advice would you give someone starting this project? I don't own a serger so sewing jersey is always a challenge. To keep the seams from becoming 'wavy' I used tissue paper (as seen on one of the photos). The paper stabilizes the fabric so it doesn't stretch too much and it keeps from distorting the shape of the final dress. It's a neat trick that can make sewing easier and with a more professional outcomes.
