What are you most proud of? The fit is EXACTLY like the model jean I used. Perfect!! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time, follow each step. I used heavy topstitching thread which my high-end machine didn't really like. But I persisted. I think the double thread idea might be better. I used two-piece pockets (front) that extend from center to out seam, like my model jean. I found that tearing the denim to establish cross grain actually stretched the fabric. I made a mistake of using the torn edge for the waistband...I should have cut up an inch from the tear. I used the Wrangler waistband technique which overlays waistband elastic on the inside of a single cut waistband piece then topstitched in place. Cutting the waistband elastic an inch shorter gives a little stretch without it being apparent. I gave my jean updated back flap pockets with a snap and embroidery. Make sure your fly topstitching does not run into the zipper base...you'll be stuck! (I handstitched the last 1/4" of mine to fake it). I'm anxious to do another pair right away to correct the minor mistakes I made on this pair.
