Snazzy Slouch

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Snazzy Slouch Link to website or photo www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/accessory/the-snazzy-slouch-handbag-sewing-pattern/47752?_ct=fhevybu-fqjjuhdbyrhqho-jyjbu&_ctp=47752 What are you most proud of? I'm proud that I actually finished! I've never made a purse and didn't realize it is an advanced pattern until I was almost finished. I chose it because I liked it. It never occurred to me that it might be difficult. It also only took me 2 days! Most of that time was spent looking at the photos and making sure I was doing it correctly. :-) One thing I was extremely proud of was the inside pocket zipper. I've sewn zippers, but this one looks amazing...if I do say so myself. I've never been great at that, but I think I did a dang good job with this one! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I don't recommend using stretchy fabric. The faux leather was stretchy and didn't go under the presser foot very well, even with a roller foot. My machine will sew over 9 layers of denim...but not this stuff. I love the way it looks on the purse, but I won't use it again, at least not for something with curves. Other than that the purse was fun to make and if I can do it, anyone can!!! I plan on making a few more with different fabric and colors! My mom and sister-in-law have put in their orders! heehee One more thing, I also suggest that you don't allow your cat in your sewing room. My cat, Starla Moon, thought she would help me by playing with the fabric and pulling it as it would go through my machine. (and no worries, she was no where near the needle). That would probably be another reason for my wonky topstitching. ;-) She is always so helpful...

What you will need

  • faux leather for the exterior and cotton blend for the interior
