Smocked Easter Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I'm proud of the fact that my Lord & Savior gave me the creativity and ability to smock and sew to make a beautiful heirloom dress for my granddaughter. I don't follow a pattern to do the smocking or to make the dress. After many years of smocking & dressmaking, I've learned to create my own designs & dress patterns.

What you will need

  • Printed Cotton Fabric for the dress
  • Symphony Cotton/Poly Fabric in white for the smocking & Madiera appliqued scallops
  • Embroidery Floss - various colors to make the smocked stitches

Q&A with sewnsew

HellyH asked:
The dress is beautiful and your little Tootsie is as well. I must try smocking it looks so lovely.
sewnsew answered:
Thank you HellyH for the kiind compliments! I love to do hand-smocking! It's a relaxing thing to do while watching TV in the evening with my hubby!
Jenya asked:
Simply stunning!
sewnsew answered:
oh my - what a nice compliment! Thank you!!
jagodfrey asked:
Wow! It's beautiful, but looks oh so difficult.
sewnsew answered:
Thank you! After many years of smocking & sewing, it wasn't too hard, but I must admit the Madiera applique did pose a challenge! The first time I did the scalloped hem, I did it upside down!! But it was worth all the work to see my little tootsie in it!!
Kris Moore asked:
This is just beautiful!!!
sewnsew answered:
I appreciate your kind compliment, Kris!
