Silk Kimono Dress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I really took my time with this project, and also learned a couple of new techniques. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I think a design like this can be tricky to wear. If you make it too big, it can easily look sack-like on a curvy body. According to the pattern measurements, I should have made a large in the hips, but I took it back to a medium for a little less ease. I think the result is that the dress hugs and accentuates my curves rather than trying to hide them.

What you will need

  • lightweight silk twill

I'm always looking for patterns for silk, as you want simple lines that drape nicely to take advantage of the fabric. I love your dress - beautiful color on you! I'm putting this pattern on my wish list right now.

Thank you so much! I'm planning on making a new one this spring in rayon :-)
