Sewing With Knits

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I cut out the neckband from the body of the original Tee but I didn't like the look as trying to match up the stripes left the neckline either too loose or too pulled. I unpicked the original neck band which was a solid color. It had more stretch than the body of the Tee and I remade the scoop. It came out well, It was worth the extra effort. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to play around with the fabric until you get the look you want. This is my third Tee and it gets easier with each one.

What you will need

  • Cotton Poly Knit. This was made from a men's XL Vee Neck Tee I found on clearance.

crbux asked:
is sewing with knits using a conventional sewing machine?
Teresa Maria answered:
As long as you have a zig zag stitch on your machine you can use a conventional machine for knits. I used my Brother CS6000i and used the zig zag stitch with a plastic foot and stretch needles. It worked very well.
