Sassy Librarian Blouse & Skirt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Made my flat pattern alterations and then cut and worked on muslins. Slow down. I washed dried and pressed several fabrics & underlining (batiste cotton and silk organza). Watch my progress on flickr at: What advice would you give someone starting this project? USE a COLOR printer for the pattern! I did not have color printer so I sent to my local Canadian Staples Copy Centre and it cost me $16.10 to have one color copy of the pattern. Wash/Dry and press your fabric and underlining (if applicable) before you layout the pattern and cut! Muslin? Once I finally choose my fabric (cotton white eyelet lace) and underling (white silk organza) I cut all and marked all my pieces based on stitching line. I may need every cm I can get as I am a plus size. I took my fabric, interfacing and organza and put them all together marking my stitching lines carefully in green thread. Now into the washer and dryer to see how the pieces come out? Do the wax paper markings come out (blue & red) did the organza stay nicely attached to my fashion fabric? This will help me to decide how I will mark the very important tucks on the front of the blouse. Now to wait.........

What you will need

  • White eyelet cotton for the blouse. Silk organza for underlining on collar & facings. White silk ribbon with pearls for trim on removeable collar #1. Will add self covered buttons.

Q&A with Scheri Manson

jlweese asked:
I like the idea of option 2 to go with the top.
Scheri Manson answered:
thank you I agree :)
esther.osita asked:
Hi! I'm interested in signing up for the course but I'm a plus-sized gal and would like to know if the blouse instructions accommodate for larger sizes and bust adjustments? Would love it if you could get back to me on this.
Scheri Manson answered:
Hey no adjustments included in pattern. Goes to size 18. I am upsizing to 42 37 43. Wish me luck. Muslin looked pretty good.
castauffert asked:
I'm also a plus sized gal. I've signed up for the course because I think I could learn something from the techniques offered, but is there a plus sized version or equivalent? If not, I could work on upsizing it myself but I'd prefer a pattern. Thanks!
Scheri Manson answered:
No plus size. We have to tough it through an upsizing.
LisaLisaLisa asked:
The pattern goes up to a U.S. size 18.
Scheri Manson answered:
Yes I have printed and the 18 won't fit me. Had to make flat pattern adjustments and muslin and still working on the bust darts,
KUJayhawker asked:
I'm sassy and I'm a librarian but wanted to know why this pattern was given this name?
Scheri Manson answered:
No idea you would have to ask the pattern designer Christine Haynes.
