What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Project Pattern Link to website or photo www.simplicity.com/p-2009-costumes.aspx What are you most proud of? I am quite proud of the trim. I have never made a garment with so much trim, especially all hand stitched. The gown had to be assembled and fitted before the trim could go on. The bodice is boned and has cups, so you could not machine stitch the trims with good outcome. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Get fitting help. Be sure the shoulders and neckline are not too wide before you start. I would not shorten this at all until after it is finished. I'm 5'1" tall and usually take 5" off a long gown like this, but don't forget you have the hoop underneath. Also, the pattern is cut so that you use the same panels for sides and back, however, more fabric is needed in the back so when it came to hemming, I had 5" too much in the front and zero room for a hem at the back. Flocked fabric is difficult to work with. It sticks to everything, burns easily, has to be dry cleaned or all the flocking comes off. Think twice about this fabric choice.
