Raggedy Ann

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I reinforce the fabric, the hair is rooted right into the scalp (ouch!) and so they are very durable. My daughter's is 30 yrs old & has been washed & dried numerous times and still looks new. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is the 25". I'd only make that or the 20" the other sizes are too big or too small. Even the 20" is a much smaller doll than this one.

What you will need

  • all cotton fabrics
  • acrylic yarn
  • polyfil

Q&A with NiceThreads

Lenora Ziobro asked:
Do you sew the hair on before assemling? Is the face embroidered?I love it,I did make a small one for my neice!
NiceThreads answered:
No, after. I sew the loops right into the head measuring the loop with 3 fingers. Every 2nd one is knotted which locks the first one in. The face is hand embroidered, the nose is apliqued. If it's for an older child I use buttons for the eyes, it allows me to indent them. Otherwise I embroider them. I like to add the child's name on the heart on the chest under the I love you.
