Raggedy Andy

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I have made Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy for all my children, most of my nieces and nephews and now my grandchildren. My gifts have often been chosen as the lovey of choice! My oldest son, wore out 2 Andy's and rejected the new 3rd one and still hung onto the face missing, one leg and one arm missing original 2. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Do your best and pay attention to the details as that is what makes them so nice. Remember, this might by the heirloom that is passed down! Reinforce arm and leg connecting stitching.

What you will need

  • Twill cotton for body
  • embroidery floss
  • acrylic yarn for hair and calico for clothes. Notions were elastic
  • rick rack
  • thread and stitch on velcro. No buttons or snaps for little ones!

Q&A with mephotogranny

ckane61527609570 asked:
I want to make a set of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls in various sizes for my granddaughter. I like the embroidered face and details on your doll. Where can I find the pattern? (The Simplicity pattern dolls have whites around their eyes which I don't care for.)
mephotogranny answered:
Give me a day or so and I will find the pattern number for you. Maybe it is still around!! You just reminded me, I have another grandchild and need to make his Andy. Oh my!
