Polished Pewter Purse w/ Watch

What was your source for this sewing project? Improvisational What are you most proud of? In celebration of turning back the clocks this fall, I've added a time piece to the handmade beaded zipper pull. I'm impressed with the quality of this Polished Pewter upholstery fabric and how each it is to sew. This Blue infused Pewter is one of my favorite colors, and is the same color I painted the North Bedroom in our old Victorian. (see photo). I made the drapes and quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This purse is small, about 9.5" square, but within those boundaries you can squeeze in 4 pockets. (Project 121)

Q&A with Shoestring

duzysg1325873 asked:
All very beautiful as usual. Your quilt is lovely...I've never tackled one that size mainly because I have quite a collection of quilts made by my Grandmother and Great Aunt...my Grandmother pieced and they both quilted each on a very large quilting frame in a spare bedroom. They would be amazed at the machine quilting done today. My Grandmother did all her peicing on her old treadle machine and pressed with her flat iron heated on the gas stove. She had more up to date equipment but preferred the old ones. I have the treadle machine next to my computer, holding my printer...when the power fails, I'm still sewing! Thanks for sharing!
Shoestring answered:
Hi duzysg1325873. Thanks for your great note. I enjoyed reading about your grandmother and great aunt. I also have a treadle; Singer Model S--model year is 1904. I haven't sewn on a treadle yet. I do have a local person who could clean and oil her up--and get her ready for use. It looks to be in great shape. Hey, I could use some lessons on it. Want to come visit me? I'm serious.
