Pleats are Neat Skirt

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Vogue 2939 Link to website or photo Voguepatterns.com What are you most proud of? The pleats. The zip was on the side, I find this makes the side seam a funny shape, so placed it at centre back, and decided to line the skirt which is so easy. I also added a tab and a button at the top of the zip as it makes closure easier. I didn't put the facings on as I don't have a waist really, I just turn over the top 5/8 and stitched it. I added 2.5 inches to the length, and found it a little short, so added a false hem - just stitch fabric or tape about 1.5" wide to lower hem, then turn and either hem or stitch, this has added a little body to the pleats. To make pleats sharp use your clapper. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid, this skirt too less than an hour to complete. And I saved hundreds of dollars.

Q&A with Pohutukawa

Pat Mitchell asked:
Wonderful skirt. You can make a garment faster than going to the store and trying to find something that might fit. Love the back of this skirt and the lining added a nice pop of color. I'm sure this skirt will be a favorite.

This is an excellent work skirt - I just can't believe how fast you sew things up, it would take me at least a day to make this skirt (possibly longer with the pleats). Really great job.
