Project

Pleated Dress With Sailor Collar. Learned From Suzy's on-line Class Dress With Boat neck and Pleated Skirt, but Made Sailor Collar using instruction from her textbook. Fabrics From mood. NYC!!

What are you most proud of? The collar and ties. Great written instructions from Suzy Furer's book, The Architecture of Women's clothing. It offers a lot of ideas beyond the scope of the on line classes, but having taken the classes has helped me understand the written instructions! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Trust that things will come together and still fit once you have your sloper true to your size. There are so many dart manipulations and style line changes that, while doing it, you can doubt that it will still fit. But it does and that allows you to have fun and trust in your design changes.

beautiful dress ,great job! love love love your dress. what kind of pleat did you draft? on your skirt? I do have small dart is about 1'' I don't think if I would transform in to pleat will give me that wide both side. would you like to share with me how you draft that? please! just a bottom! thanks

Hi Thank you so much. The skirt portion was made from the creative neckline class by Suzy Furer. It's the lesson on the boat neckline with pleated skirt. I didn't change the design of what she taught in the lesson. The sailor neckline was taken from her book, The Architecture of Women's Clothing". It had a lot more design options in it based on the sloper from the moulage class.
lynnetang2148129 asked:
Beautiful! Encouraging to see your lovely dress. I am just completing my moulage and am so happy with it.Thanks so much for sharing. Love sailor collars, so sharp looking. In the 80's, they were popular and should be back in style. congrats! Lynne
cb55mack1875049 answered:
Thx Lynne. I agree, sailor collars are so classic. This one is actually a roll collar so it stand up a little higher on the neck. It's nice to have the pattern done so I can make new ones up fast now. I think I may sew one up in a classic red and white next!!
Judy Murphy asked:
Oh Goodness....Red and White would be nice, but I would like to see it in Blue and White. I love it, if I ever make this dress I will wear it every day of my life !!! Great work, and great inspiration !
cb55mack1875049 answered:
Thank you Judy. Blue and white would be lovely too. I'm thinking white top with blue bottom. Maybe a blue tie or some kind of blue trim against the white on top.
