Owl coil basket

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This is probably my favourite out of all the baskets I've made so far. It's the most unique. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I did a few straight stitches across the base of the basket so the bottom is a bit stronger and more rigid. You can do a zig zag stitch along the wrapped rope before you wind it around the handles if you are worried about your material gapping or fraying (I did this the first time I did these handles on another project but didn't bother this time)

What you will need

  • 5.6mm multi purpose soft rope Fabric strips Thread Fabric for owl Felt Toy eyes Polyfill to stuff owl

Hi Sarah! It looks like you've mastered the art of coiled baskets! I'm wondering if you've seen my book "Sewing Pottery by Machine". I was inspired by "It's a Wrap" by Susan Breier and I've taken the art to another place: enclosed forms resembling pottery. I hope you take a look at it! Keep up the good work! Barbara Warholic
Sarah Becker answered:
Thanks Barbara, I will most definitely check it out!
