Naughty Secretary Skirt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Inserting the invisible zipper and adding the lining. I thought these would be difficult to do, but it was quite doable after following Dianna's instructions. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're a plus-size, know that you will need to take some time in the beginning to alter the pattern to fit you properly. It only comes in a large. You may have to make other modifications as well. I decided to get rid of the darts.

What you will need

  • Leopard Peachskin Silky Fabric
  • black broadcloth lining
  • black invisible zipper

Q&A with db1690

Davesmom asked:
I love your taste in fabric. It looks lovely. Is this your first skirt? I have made two and have bought material for another. I am a plus size and I just bought a different skirt pattern Butterick 5719, but I followed the instructions for this class. It was so encouraging to learn how to put an invisible zipper in my skirt. I even plan to make the dress with my 5719 pattern. Today, I was working on a jacket from the same pattern. After the new year I would like to take the courses on making pants fit and the construction of them. I just love the step by step instruction in the Caftsy courses. What is your next project?
db1690 answered:
This is my first skirt with a zipper and lining. I've made a couple with elastic. I love the Butterick pattern. I think I'll grab it when it goes on sale at JoAnn. I'm taking both of the pants courses and will probably start working on it next week. I also want to start working on the classic tailored shirt course.
