Napping Mat Covers for Kindergarteners

I taught kindergarten for 5 years in a private school after I retired from public school. I used a wonderful reading program called Zoophonics. Every letter of the alphabet is represented by a different animal. The children have a short rest time on plastic mats after the noontime recess. I decided that we needed to assign one mat to a child to minimize spreading germs! I made covers for the mats, added an appliqué of an animal that was in Zoophonics, and assigned each student a different critter. I drew the animals myself, so it didn't infringe on any copyrights. I enjoyed doing this project. It took a long time to complete, but my students were thrilled when they each had their own animal on their napping mat!
