My Brother's Christmas Gift

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Figuring out a few alternative ways to making this bag easier than what it already was the first time! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just take your time and take the serger class for beginners. I wasn't a beginner and even I learned a few new things.

What you will need

  • I used faux suede
  • cotton
  • fusible fleece and a 18 inch separating zipper

Q&A with Acreativecorner

Scheri Manson asked:
What a great gift idea I plan on making a bag in the serger class for my husbands shaving kit. Very nice embroidery work. Looks like Amy's class is going to be another sewing hit on Craftsy.
Acreativecorner answered:
It really was a great class. Amy is a great instructor. I wish I could attend classes near by but my husband is in the Air Force and it always seems like when I plan to do something or go somewhere without the kids he ends up working or TDY. lol. That is what made this class so special to me. :)
Sunshine62 asked:
I really like your color choices. He's going to love it.... I'm going to do embroidery on the one's I make for gifts....
Acreativecorner answered:
The hardest thing was to find a smaller embroidery design I liked. lol
Fire Girl asked:
Looks great...how did your serger do over that massive zipper?
Acreativecorner answered:
It worked fine the first two projects but broke a needle on the third. Going slow is the key.
CherylBrown asked:
I do a lot of machine embroidery and I have a serger, but I am intimidated by threading it. I need some encouragement.
Acreativecorner answered:
I used to be afraid of serger until I got my cover stitch machine. Then the serger was a piece of cake. :). I just kept trying and pulling out my manual. When one thread broke or needed to be retread then I'd retread all of my spools. Practice makes perfect. Good Luck!
greatgram80733 asked:
I think the design is great but it would look nicer if it was centered properly.
Acreativecorner answered:
Thank you. This pattern didn't have lines so I agree and this was one of my first embroideries .. :). I'm still on the learning process. But as I learn I like to share tips as well. Alough my brother still loved it.
