Muslin Using Techniques Learned in Class

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I was able to use techniques learned in the class to reinforce the shoulder seam and work with knits. The rest of the garment/muslin is still unfinished, but I hope to complete my project soon. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to work with knits :) Meg's class contained several helpful tips, including the usage of clear elastic to reinforce shoulder seams and hems.

What you will need

  • Mystery blue stretch fabric from stash
  • clear elastic. The pattern is view A of pattern 6940 from New Look.

Q&A with miwts

ChristyJohnson asked:
I love how you did the neckline. Can you tell me how you did that?
miwts answered:
(cont'd from previous reply) the bottom. For the neck binding, I used a bias strip which I attached to the neckline and then pressed to the wrong side so that you don't see it from the public side. To secure it from flipping out, I stitched in the ditch at the shoulder seams and stitched at the ends (which are hidden near the pass-through detail).
