Modern Print Purse

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Improvisational What are you most proud of? Here is a great big color matched decorative button I made especially for this fabric. The position of the button is offset on purpose--wouldn't want to spoil that great big white flower. I experimented also with placement of my Mill Street Studio label--attaching it to the interior pocket. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Large print fabrics are fun to work with. Single out a great image (like the white flower) and feature it on a front pocket. I didn't add beaded zipper to this small 9 x 9" purse. I didn't want to take away from the feature flower and decorative button.

What you will need

  • A Modern Flower print in a sturdy duck cotton for the Exterior
  • carrying straps
  • and pockets. Color matched cotton print for purse and pocket linings. Handmade Polymer Clay Button on Front Pocket
  • and Beads for Zipper Pull.

Q&A with Shoestring

4bird2 asked:
You've done it again, "PPP." I love the neutral floral fabric on this one. The button of course of fabulous, very cool.
Shoestring answered:
Hi there my friend 4bird2. Thanks for you kind words. The shape of the flower and stem remind me of geranium, but the unlikely blue theme makes it more dramatic. I have enough leftover of this fabric to make an accent pillow . I'm going to go check out your projects now and see what you've been up to. Have fun this week.
