Little Giraffes

Project Description

What was your source for this sewing project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo McCalls 6541 Link to website or photo craftsy.com What are you most proud of? The giraffe and his alterations were something new for me. I added metal washers, wrapped with yarn, inside his feet to make him stand more securely and a gusset for his stomach to spread his legs further apart. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time and enjoy it. Make fewer, more widely spaced spots to both improve the giraffe's appearance, and save your sanity.

What you will need

  • Waverly Yarn (white) and Sock yarn scraps (black). McCalls patterns 6541 and 5625 (hat). Giraffe based on Craftsy's Knitted Giraffe by lindadawkins@mweb.co.za with some alterations.

Q&A with mominabook

Ipanema asked:
Adorable outfit and Giraffe. I am pleased to see your use of this fabric. I, too, (having an affinity for giraffes) just had to have this particular fabric selection (same source as yours). I bought it in pink with coordinating prints but when it arrived I was surprised at the large scale. It's safely tucked in my stash awaiting inspiration (I originally bought it for outfits for three granddaughters) so now that I see your cute outfit, there is hope. Thanx for the visual aid I needed.
mominabook answered:
Some of the scrraps have been re-invented as a clothespin bag for smiles while hanging laundry. Still have more and can't bare to throw them out.
