Project

Little Brown Pouch

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Made this pouch insert for a purse in same fabric. I like having smaller pouches inside my purse. This pouch is the right size for my camera, or--if I have to take off earrings or jewelry I can quickly store them in the pouch. I added a skinny loop to make the pouch portable--can be used separately from the larger purse. This is Project #125 posted at Crafsty. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Leftover Fabric Scraps make great pouches. What do I like best about building these little pouches? Sometimes I build the pouch before I build the purse . . . then I can try out ideas for different looks before using them on a larger purse build. In this case I wanted to experiment with a folded closure flap and just a tab of hook and loop sew-on tape. Lesson Learned: Not all hook and loop brands are equal. Some brands close better than others. Also, I learned I will need to make the tab bigger. A bigger hook and loop tab will hold closure more secure.

What you will need

  • Decorator Fabric
  • a crisp printed cotton in Brown/Burnt Orange/Black for Exterior. Burnt Orange Poly/Cotton for Lining. Sew-on hook and loop tab closure with gold slip ring. My own handmade polymer clay button for decoration.
